Inspiration is a mere reed blown in the wind.”

Musical instruments are complex instruments requiring specialist care.  With over 36 years experience in the field, WINDFIX is able to offer quotes and guarantees on all repairs, restoration and services to woodwind instruments, ensuring your peace of mind.

ABOUT WINDFIX

Ian Holloway, formerly Principal Clarinettist of the KwaZulu-Natal Philharmonic Orchestra (a position he held for nearly 30 years),with a career spanning nearly 40 years, had Clarinet tutors who instilled in him the value of maintaining his own instruments.  Coupled with a love of design and a passion for ‘how things work’, his love of making music led him to repairing other woodwind instruments. These requests were often made by his professional musician colleagues – such was the trust placed in him for repairing or servicing their valuable professional instruments.

Ian currently repairs and restores musical instruments for a number of schools – Michaelhouse, Hilton College, Epworth, Wykeham College, to name but a few as well as treasured instruments of the internationally acclaimed saxophone artist Andrew Young, and those of members of the KwaZulu-Natal Philharmonic Orchestra.

He has rescued many a performance by performing emergency repairs on instruments, to the extreme relief of the musicians involved.

All refurbished instruments are sold with guarantee.
