Wakkerstroom Walks & Trails, Hiking, Biking and Running
Definitely the best of what Wakkerstroom has to offer. There is an informative booklet that is for sale at a few establishments in the village. The aim is to provide visitors with details on walks & trails and biking, that show off the historical heritage, natural beauty as well as the fauna and flora of the village of Wakkerstroom.
Walks, Trails, Hikes & Running:
Historical village walks: The Court House; Historical Route; The War Memorial Walk; Harvey Greenacres Walk;These are self guided and should average no more than one hour each.
Nature walks: The Kruger Bridge Nature Walk; Wetland Waddle Route – This is a 12 km walk around the Wetland Reserve.
These walks and trails can be done either on foot, biking or by car.
Trail: Iron Horse Trail; 16 km combination of tar and gravel roads, farm tracks, paths and railway lines
Hikes: Ossewakop Summit (8.8km) and Ossewakop Mini (5.46km). There are no entrance fees.
Running: Every year in June, there is the Wakkerstroom Mountain Challenge Race
