There are plenty of shebeens all over the township of eSizameleni, in Wakkerstroom, but there is no place where young people can gather without the distraction of liquor and drugs.
Smiley Youths started to gather in 2008 to entertain the Youth of eSizameleni on a Friday night and has done it ever since. We sing songs, have fun with contests, drink coffee, play outside with balls, hoolah hoops and skipping ropes. We have parties, celebrate Heritage Day and get together at Easter time to watch a Zulu video.
The community of Wakkerstroom and friends from all over continue to open their hands and hearts with donations and various items for our regular market days. We sell these items at a mere song to give everybody a fair chance to benefit. However, we are always in search of funds to finance our activities and if you would like to assist us, we would only be too grateful.
