N G Kerk

Sundays @ 10h00

In the centre of the village is the N G Kerk. The Church grounds are almost 5 hectare in size. The cornerstone of the Church was laid by P J Joubert (Commander General of the ZAR) on 27th October 1888. The Church Hall next to the Church was built on the foundations of the original Church building which dates back to 1874. On the same site is a Memorial to the members of the Wakkerstroom Commando killed in action during the Anglo-Boer War.

Of special interest in the Church is the organ, built in the early 1900’s. It is unique in that it is a pneumatic action organ which works by air pressure, not relying on electricity, as the later models do.
