Hare’s Rest situated in the crook of the Wakkerstroom river flowing from Martin’s dam into the world renowned Wetlands. Surrounded by tranquil natural beauty with an abundance of birds and the sound of the river flowing over the rapids. Home to a herd of contented donkeys with quaint and quirky personalities that will entertain you while they enjoy their treats.

The accommodation consists of two fully equipped comfortable and cosy self-catering cottages with a communal braai area. There is a carport to keep your vehicle protected from the elements.

This cosy accommodation is fully equipped with an open-plan kitchenette that seamlessly flows into the living area.

The bedroom features a queen-sized bed with an electric blanket to keep you warm on chilly nights in Wakkerstroom, and the private bathroom includes a convenient shower, wash hand basin and toilet.

The Burrow is the perfect destination for those seeking a peaceful and comfortable retreat.

You can walk on the 25 hectare property with diverse flora of grasslands and bushy hill. A leisurely walk down the river will provide you tranquil scenes of willow trees draped over the rambling river. Birds, otters, mongoose and hares are always present and frequently sited with the occasional duiker making its appearance when startled. Wild flowers abound especially in spring and summer.

Bass fishing can be enjoyed in Martin’s dam and the river has many pools that have produced some wild brown trout. The property is a good base for bikers, mountain bikers and hikers to explore the various routes on offer in the Wakkerstroom area.
