      Misha Meyer (Piano)

      Misha Meyer, a student of Prof. Joseph Stanford, will be performing a solo piano concert during the Wakkerstroom Music Festival 2014. Her program will consist of a diverse and colourful collection of some of her most loved works during her musical career thus far, including works by Bach, Rachmaninov, Gerswhin, Messiaen, Rameau, Ravel, Zaidel-Rudolph and others.

      Misha started playing piano at the age of 7 and made her debut with the Johannesburg Symphony Orchestra within six months. She has since received numerous prizes in national and international competitions. Misha has also performed with various orchestras in South Africa and abroad. She studied at the Royal Academy of Music in London in 2009, under Pascal Nemirovski and Christopher Elton. Misha has obtained an ABRSM Diploma in Piano Performance as well as a Teacher’s Licentiate Diploma from UNISA.

      In 2012 Misha won the prestigious DJ Roode Overseas Music Scholarship of R125 000 during the UNISA Overseas Scholarship Competition. She is currently pursuing a MMus in Vocal Accompaniment and Chamber Music at the University of Pretoria. Misha will also be the pianist for another exciting Wakkerstroom Music Festival performance, The French Secret Garden, with soprano Melissa Gerber.
