The Paz Consort
Pendulum has more to do with direction than it does time. On board a sailing vessel a pendulum could be used to measure longitude by means of celestial navigation. The works written for this concert by these young composers capture the spirit of this idea. We endeavor to search for what is? the “new”.
Performed by acclaimed concert harpist Gaylen Sales, the solo voice part is sung by Soprano Melissa Gerber who is firmly establishing herself in the classical vocal context of South Africa. Clarinet solo’s by Johannesburg Philharmonic player Morné van Heerden enrich the trio and makes up the compliment for the every changing ensemble, the Paz Consort.
