Wilmien Janse van Rensburg
A recital by young violinist Wilmien Janse van Rensburg and accomplished pianist Ilse Myburgh performing a variety of pieces exhibiting the different colours of the Romantic era. Featuring the works of Paganini, Franck and Ravel. Wilmien is a student of Professor Jack de Wet and in her final school year at Roedean School where she holds their top cultural scholarship. She made her solo debut at the age of 9 with the Johannesburg Symphony Orchestra. In 2011 she was taken up into the Unisa Music Foundation’s Program for Gifted Young Musicians. She is part of the Ferox duo; who won the ATKV National Ensemble Competition twice. She toured with the Zurich Chamber Orchestra and Sir Roger Norrington and was co-concertmaster for the National Youth Orchestra in December/January. In 2012 She was Runner-up Strings in the Artscape Competition and won 1st prize at the Yamaha Lovemore Music Competition.
